Founding

Opening

The founding of The Alvan Ikoku Philanthropies, and the development of its mission and purposes, have entailed the following formative aspects:

History and Founder

The Alvan Ikoku Philanthropies was established in 2020 by its sole Founder and CEO, Alvan Azinna Chibuzo Ikoku, as a division of The Alvan Ikoku Group LLC. The parent company was itself established in January 2019 by said sole Founder, Member, President and Chair, Alvan Azinna Chibuzo Ikoku — as part of ongoing work he has carried out for over three decades, leading also to his founding of Publiks IncThe Ikoku Charitable Trusts, The Ikoku Foundations, and Humana Sancta. Where appropriate and approved by the Founder, these entities endeavor to coordinate their efforts and resulting service to communities.

Causes and Concerns

The Alvan Ikoku Group LLC was also founded and developed in response to the concerns below:

Concern for Care
— the Founder’s abiding concern for and longstanding interest in issues pertaining to care
Concern for Creativity
— the Founder’s abiding concern for and longstanding interest in practices, problems, and products of creativity
Concern for Community
— the Founder’s abiding concern for and longstanding interest in communities, both local and global in nature
Concern for Ethics
— the Founder’s abiding concern for and longstanding interest in issues pertaining to ethics
Concern for the Human and Humane
— the Founder’s abiding concern for and longstanding interest in the human and humane, with the Founder’s insights from such concern proving valuable during several periods, preceding and during the formation of The Alvan Ikoku Group LLC, where this Founder was subject to a set of inhumane behaviors that entailed violations of the autonomy, confidentiality, freedom, liberty, privacy, and sanctity of the Founder’s being, brain, mind, self, soul, and spirit*

*for further regarding these discriminatory and inhumane behaviors, see Incompatibility with Founding

Concern for Difference
— the Founder’s abiding concern for and longstanding interest in issues pertaining to difference, with the Founder’s insights from such concern proving valuable during the aforementioned periods, able to elucidate that — as also experienced by others — such inhumane behaviors depend upon and employ notions of human and perceived difference (including those pertaining to birth and citizenship, culture, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, and sex) to elicit active and passive support for persistent, pervasive and profound violations of a person’s humanness.*

*for further regarding these discriminatory and inhumane behaviors, see Incompatibility with Founding

Mission and Purposes

The Alvan Ikoku Group LLC’s founding mission and purposes are therefore:

To Foster
— to foster care and creativity, community and ethics in lives and societies of enduring concern to the Founder
To Serve
— to serve a range of communities touched by the Founder, including through disciplines in which he has trained and practiced
To Fulfill
— to fulfill the founding mission as a faith-based company, abiding by the principles and practices of the Humana Faith
To Succeed
— and to succeed in developing a company — as well as communities — where the aforementioned behaviors are considered inhumane, as well as unnecessary, and so do not guide on the way to better lives and societies

And The Alvan Ikoku Philanthropies serves as the company division tasked with:

Beneficence | Care
— development and provision of public benefit pertaining to beneficence, care, health, and wellness
Ethics | Spirituality
— development and provision of public benefit pertaining to ethics and spirituality
Nonprofit | Facilitation
— development and provision of public benefit pertaining to nonprofit facilitation
Education | Research
— development and provision of public benefit pertaining to education and research

Humana Faith
that no aspect of its activities, affairs, or arrangements come in conflict, in any way, with the Humana Faith — as administered, defined, interpreted and organized solely by the Founder, Alvan Azinna Chibuzo Ikoku, as a spiritual faith and spiritual order, Humana Sancta — with such spiritual faith and order to be distinct from, and not based on, conflated with, dependent on or subject to, any other belief system, faith, religion, or spirituality, such as Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Paganism, or Syncretism
Mmadụism
that such nonconflict with the Humana Faith be furthermore grounded in Mmadụism and its basic moral and ethical injunction, formulated in two fundamental claims — ọ bu mmadụ (“that person is a human being”) and ọ bụ nwa mmadụ (“that person is someone’s child” or “that person is a human being’s child”) — that a person must always and fully recognize any other persons humanity as sacred and true.
Human Being As-is
that such nonconflict with the Humana Faith align with a belief in the sanctity of each human being as-is
Sanctity of Mind, Self, Soul, Spirit
that such nonconflict with the Humana Faith align with a belief that the autonomy, confidentiality, freedom, liberty, privacy, and sanctity of each and every human individual’s being, brain, mind, self, soul, and spirit — as well as attendant rights to such — are inalienable, sacrosanct and thus absolute
Founder’s Mind, Self, Soul, Spirit
that such nonconflict with the Humana Faith align with a core purpose of the company to always ensure that the Founder, Alvan Azinna Chibuzo Ikoku, enjoys the highest level of, provision for, and protection of the above and all other rights, the above sanctity, and the humane respect and treatment such humanity requires
